hello sheffield! : reetsweet's spring spectacular!

it was nov we last came to sheffield, it was cold, it was windy, and it was bleak outside! but inside our fair which was just awesome, some of my personal favourites were there including this lady (I think I am almost her stalker) and some of the lovely people who ran craft candy...

fast forward to spring and we are back ladies and gents! we return to sheffield in style, at the prestigious millennium gallery on saturday 10th march, we are going to be trading from 11am to 5pm upstairs in the arundel room (don't worry the reetsweet team will be there to show you!) and will have a host of goodies for you.

as featured on the facebook page, this is the very first time we will have the lovely people from 'when the music's over'....







Using vintage vinyl this married team Bea and Philip have a totally original look the their work and I am really excited about having them on board -

'We are a married couple in our 40's living and working in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. After a very successful first year selling on Folksy where we have already become one of their top 250 best sellers we would now like the opportunity to exhibit at the Millenium Gallery after enjoying previous craft fairs there, we feel this would be the perfect place to showcase our contemporary range of products which include; Desk and mantle clocks, journals and notebooks, unique rings, earrings, hairclips and cuffs for her and keyrings, cufflinks and badges for him....'

Well hello there reetsweeters!

We have two main dates we are promoting at the moment, firstly - Leeds date for your diary is next sat - feb 11th at Leeds Corn Exchange, and secondly, we are delighted to be returning to Sheffield on sat march 10th at The Millennium Gallery!

It's a good time to remind everyone that whilst we all know things are tight right now, our fairs are always free to attend, and prices start from just £2 - support handmade and have a great day out with us!

I am so excited about our makers at both of these events and can't wait to share them!

I hope you have all enjoyed a nice festive period, and the doom and gloom of rain smacking your face with a 60 mile an hour wind isn't crushing your january buzz too much! Another new reetsweeter, and former craft candy regular, on sunday we will be introducing you to Joey Ramone.

Joey lives in Sheffield, and has been making cute fabric brooches, bags and other accessories since 2008 which she sells from her Etsy shop. She has been a contributor of sewing projects to the magazines Sew Hip, Making Gifts and Quilt Scene 2010 and was delighted to win the Feeling Stitchy Rainbow of Stitches online contest in May 2010 with her embroidery, “Little Tiger's Orangey Celebration”.

James Green is one of our favourite artists and has supported reetsweet from our very first fair, come and see his achingly beautiful work at the sheffield fair sunday 27th Nov...

'I'm a printmaker based in Sheffield and I specialise in linocut prints. I've been working in the medium for around eight years, and I'm a little obsessed with it. I produce prints of people, animals, landscapes and the occasional absurd dream. I've produced commissioned work for Domino Records, Paul Smith Menswear, Tramlines Festival and I also run linocut workshops, teaching people how to make prints. Oh, I've also recently produced some mugs with my prints on (with the help of Lianne Mellor), so might bring them along to Reetsweet!'

This winter we are delighted at reetsweet to carry on the work of our friends at craft candy in sheffield and will be at the prestigious millenium gallery near the train station on sunday 27th of this month from 12pm to 4pm! For more details see our events page here.

'Born Restless is a collection of embroidered art and jewellery, made by someone who is trying to live a little better and work a little less. Currently living in Manchester, I make most of the things you’ll see here in my bedroom at night, whilst listening to ghost stories on the radio. I’m inspired by ideas of home and memory, the occult, my regular nightmares, as well as anything else that seems like a great idea at the time.'

We love her work - it's refreshing and modern and very quirky! Check back this week for more previews...

saying goodbye to craft candy...

On saturday me and my good friend Bianca headed out in the rain to sheffield to make a farewell trip to craft candy's last fair in sheffield...

We had a great day...sheffield is so friendly and so laid back! We loved the mirrored fountain that greets you walking out of the station and we thought that the Millenium Gallery was stunning! Craft Candy did not disappoint, we were loving Elodie G (above) as usual who's naive illustrations has us smiling and cooing, plus I finally saw the prints that Sarah Waterhouse one of the Craft Candy's organisers makes and we were bowled over! Funny! Cute! Stylish...awesome!(see below) We especially liked her speech bubble designs but the birdcages are also so pretty!




Plus I got two of dreams fulfilled in one day...by meeting 1) an amazing leather designer and 2) finding some fudge-ice (fudge with coconut ice with it) at the fair.

...Fairwell Craft Candy! Reetsweet is delighted to be continuing your work in Sheffield but honestly, many many people commented on how your fairs will be missed and we can only try to carry on the work you guys have done in bringing craft to sheffield...see you in November Sheffield!
