robotic love... with debbie greenaway

If you are working on sat - and won't be able to make it to our mini fair @nation of shopkeepers, then bob down to our june 5th event (a big fair!) at the corn exchange - featuring this lovely lady's work:

"Hello everyone. My name
is Debbie, I am an illustrator and printmaker. living and working in my hometown of Huddersfield. I was last at ReetSweet in February and am very pleased to be joining ReetSweet again for it's June Fair.

Since the last fair, I have started to create a s
creen-printing work area at home so that i can print more which is very exciting! I have been printing out lion themed birthday cards and a bright new purse design. I am continuing to work on more colourful illustrations and hope to have some new things to show and tell on the 5th June!"

little starr

'After struggling with the boredom of seeing the same styles, colours and shapes adorning the arm of every woman around Leone embarked on a new venture. She combined strong, bold fabrics with contrasting textures, finishes and patterns to create bags with a difference. These bags don’t just serve a purpose; they are a statement of design. More than anything, they are fun!

The range is ever evolving as bags are made in really small quantities (quite often only 1!) She has recently added matching accessories to the story in the shape of funky hair clips and key rings so there’s something for everyone'

Leone Starr is a reetsweet virgin so is really looking forward to this sunday! We are on from 11am at the corn exchange, Leeds for come craft shopping!

Have you got a sweet tooth? Then get down to Craft Candy!

Some of the lovely supporters for Reetsweet also run an amazing art collective in Sheffield - only a short train ride from Leeds! They have regular fairs under the name 'Craft Candy' and have a christmas event coming up...Check here for the details and go have a look at their superb selection of crafters...amazing!

A bit of info from the guys at craft candy...

'Craft Candy organise several quality contemporary Craft Fairs a year in Sheffield. Our Main Fairs are held in Spring, Summer and at Christmas in the Millennium Gallery, a wonderful purpose built gallery space in Sheffield City Centre. We also organise monthly Mini Fairs at Bungalows and Bears, these fairs are a great alternative to Saturday shopping in Sheffield City Centre. All our fairs are free for the public to attend.'

Leeds' Mother Eagle...

Also appearing at Reetsweet: Mother Eagle
AKA Katie Tume is having a reincarnation as an embroidery label, although you may know her work through the original focus of the little Leeds brand - handmade jewellery. Mother Eagle is in its 3rd year, and Katie will be selling lots of her charm-based silver and gold-plated necklaces and charm bracelets at the reetsweet event on 7th Novemb
er. The boutique at Redbrick Mill - 'We are Devoted' is also the sole stockist of her work. Mother Eagle jewellery is inspired by several themes including folklore, mythology, dark fairy tales and pirates (everyone loves a pirate). Pretty much all Mother Pieces include semi precious stones and are completely hand made.

So what about the shift to needlework? It's been a passion of the designer's for a while, and the decision to shift her focus completely towards embroidered pieces and objects has happened really recently - so it's a reetsweet exclusive! You can follow her work at her blog http://madebymothereagle.wordpress.com, where you can also click through to Mother Eagle's facebook page, which features a lot more of her jewellery. Katie will be working on some of her embroidery pieces at the Reetsweet event, so come and check it out!

Introducing Dig The Earth...aka Kev

How long have you been working as digtheearth?
Since the start of 2009 – though mainly online, I've only been selling at craft events since this summer. I initially started out making eco-friendly greetings cards, but that has slowly changed into designing giclĂ©e prints – which is the bulk of what I create at the moment.

What inspires you?
It's impossible not to be inspired by other designers or illustrators, there's so much fantastic work out there! I love buying prints and get to see loads of other people's work, so it's hard not to get too inspired! I also love the fact that I print my own work, if I have an idea I can print it out immediately and road test it! It helps keep things fresh.

What do you enjoy about craft events?
I like how unpredictable they are! You never know how many visitors are going to arrive, or if your work will even appeal to them. It's really great getting instant feedback and you get some absolutely fantastic positive comments. Maybe it's my darker side, but it's almost as rewarding seeing and hearing the reactions of people who just don't get 'it' when they look at my work! It's all good fun!

Dig The Earth will be appearing at reetsweet on Nov 7th @ the corn exchange...
