Pretty little thing: Meet Deborah Ballinger returning to reetsweet

Pretty stoked to have Deborah from @DBIllustrations on board for dec with pieces like this, perfect for gifts...we love her style, especially her new fake tattoos...ahh!

Deborah did her degree at Norwich University of the Arts where she graduated with a 2:1 and a hunger to get creating.

Inspired by history, culture, flora and fauna and traditions, Deborah uses these themes and more to create beautifully dark, natural and traditonal illustrations. Striving to keep many traditional and handmade elements within her work, Deborah uses the process of collage to begin breathing life into her pencil drawings before translating these onto textiles, stationery, giftware and printed matter.

Big thanks to the awesome designer Stephsayshello who's been designing our look since year dot, she's outdone herself with our latest flyer design and these will be winging their around Leeds in flyer and poster form from next week. BAD ASS. Thanks Steph!

New makers for the April Event: 'The mouse ran up the clock'

What do you get if you take two sweet sisters from Holmfirth, mix a dash of eccentricity, and spoonful of fun? You get 'The mouse ran up the clock' of course, our newest reetsweeters..

 

Purveyors of the sweetest collection of  handmade and hand crafted and designed artwork including quirky stitched mouse houses and trinkets, vintage pin cushions, illustrated art, brooches, cushions and cards, you won't find anything as delightful as this for a while...super, cute!

Things have been a bit quiet around here as we have been booking in the Oct show for Leeds, organising some festival dates and planning in some new cities for 2013...so sorry we weren't around!

Summer has been a great time to take stock of what's going on in the crafty scene, and to look forward to what we want reetsweet to achieve...

I began reetsweet in 2009 with help from my friend Emily (who taught me press releases!), the support of many people, and encouraged by many folk - Michelle Duxbury gave me a ton of advice, John Baron from The Guardian helped me spread the word, as did Darren from 'mylifeinleeds'... And of course there's been the people at The Corn Exchange, and the other venues who have welcomed us in,the amazing makers up and down the land who have taken part and of course, all the super nice customers too!

I hope that you still enjoy our little art fairs, and we hope to keep bringing you our unique take on the craft fair genre and making it bigger and more interesting!
