55 PREVIEW is a new label I stumbled accross a few months ago, they create fun subversive tees and bags (and a few other pieces) taking inspiration from Louis Vuitton and Chanel. It's fun, it's cheaper than the real deal and my god it's simply a lot easier to wear. I heart knock-offs and fun tees!
Some time ago before we were consumed by juicy couture, all took to wanting to style ourselves like the stars of Emmerdale (yes, you read it right, 'Emmerdale') by way of 99p gossip magazine guides with step by step instructions on how to look as boring as possible, there was fun in dressing up. People could wear clothes and have a laugh, even be ironic, or try to be unflattering to their figures for a bit of edge! Less 'chic', more geek!
YOKOO (see pic) is now a very well known accessories specialist on the fantastic Etsy.com, I highly recommend taking a lesson from this lady on style and business acumen. What a shame we don't get to read about people like her in our womens' magazines and instead get to hear what Cheryl Cole wants to change about her bodyshape. Hmph! Bonjour from sunny Leeds! Sunny, that is, for a change. Despite the fabulous weather I have mostly been thinking ahead lately and these turbulent moneygeddon-times and planning some out of season fashion purchases such as this sweater dress by KIND KNITWEAR a much coveted luxury brand from the Netherlands to keep me warm when normal service returns in autumn.
My advice for buying out of season is this - go for quality, timeless items that were either stone cold staples (a nice mac, a good plain jumper) or quirky things that were never really in fashion so they won't date. KIND is good because their stuff is different and edgy and generally not high fashion in the sense that it will look totally out of place next winter because it never fitted into any obvious trend anyway.
